GANGTOK/SILIGURI,: Samson Tamang has accused Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim president Ganesh Rai and Kurseong MLA BP Bajgain for provoking him to speak against the Khas community of Sikkim and West Bengal.
Both the political leaders swiftly denied these allegations and are demanding a CBI probe.
Samson had been traced and apprehended by Sikkim Police at Bodhgaya on February 19 following multiple FIRs against him for the alleged hate speech. He was being brought to Gangtok on Friday morning by the police team when he faced questions from a media house at Rangpo.
The accused claimed that he was made to speak about the particular community by the CAP Sikkim president and the Kurseong MLA. After making me speak, they backed out while politicizing what I had said and made me the enemy of Khas community, he said in the news video.
Multiple FIRs are registered against Samson in various police stations of Sikkim including Gangtok Sadar Thana.
Following the serious allegations from Samson, the CAP Sikkim president along with his party workers reached Gangtok Sadar Thana on Friday afternoon to register a counter FIR.
As told to the media, the Gangtok Sadar Thana did not accept the FIR which saw the CAP Sikkim workers staging a dharna there.
Speaking to the media, CAP Sikkim president Ganesh Rai said the allegations made against him by Samson Tamang were false. I came here to file a FIR against his serious allegations but the police refused to accept our FIR, he said.
“They must be able to prove the allegations made against me. We have no faith on Sikkim Police. Government must put a CBI probe against me and let the CBI enquiry furnish the truth for the people of Sikkim. Bring CBI against me if the government has courage. Arrest me and I am ready to face any investigation,” said Rai.
Similarly, Kurseong MLA BP Bajgain has demanded a CBI probe on the Samson Tamang case, stating that he has no faith on Sikkim government following the allegations made by Samson through media at Rangpo.
“I don’t know what Ganesh Rai will clarify after Samson’s statement but I have clearly understood that I am being targeted for political motive and now I have no faith on the probe done by Sikkim government, so I demand CBI inquiry into this matter,” said Bajgain.
The Kurseong MLA maintained that a big political force is behind the entire episode. He said Samson is not a simple person as he claimed to be while speaking to the media.
