GANGTOK,: To improve the lives of people in the Indo-China border villages,
the Indian Army’s 'Sadbhavna' scheme continues to make a significant impact. On
December 24, the Indian Army took two major steps to support the residents of
Thegu and Sherathang villages providing much-needed infrastructure and services
in these remote regions.
One of the
key initiatives was the provision of an ambulance to both villages aimed at
enhancing medical emergency services. This will benefit the locals, who often
face challenges in accessing timely healthcare due to the difficult terrain and
distance from medical centers.
Moreover,
the army installed a water tank in Sherathang village, ensuring a reliable
water supply during the harsh winter months when the regular pipeline water
often freezes. This will provide much-needed relief to the villagers,
particularly during the peak of winter, ensuring that they have access to clean
water.
The event,
held at the Baba Mandir was attended by several prominent figures, including
the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major, Sherathang panchayat Tshering
Yanzee Sherpa and Thegu panchayat Mingma Sherpa.
