GANGTOK, :The third edition of
Kanchenjunga Fight Night, the flagship MMA event of the State, kicked off with
immense excitement on Saturday at Samdur Resort, Gangtok on Saturday. The event
was attended by minister Sonam Lama, Aditya Golay and MLAs Delay Namgyal Barfungpa,
former minister Kunga Nima Lepchaand other dignitaries.
The night featured an array of
bouts, showcasing the incredible talent of local mixed martial artists.
Yuvraj Limboo won via split
decision, Samten Yozer Bhutia, Rinchen Tamang, Mark Tamang, Bishal Sahu and
Chiten Lepcha won by unanimous decisions, Danin Lama and Jitesh Sarkar earned submission
wins, and Chaman Sherpa scored the only knockout win of the evening.
The fight between Devand Yuvraj was voted the ‘Fight of the Night’, while Chaman Sherpa
earned the title of the ‘Performer of the Night’. Sherpa and the Fight of the
Night duo received cash prizes of Rs. 50,000
and Rs. 30,000
respectively. Meanwhile, ChitenLepcha, who emerged victorious in the main
event, was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
The event, which was sanctioned
by Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts India (GAMMAI) under the global
GAMMA body, was hosted by RussalGolay, CEO of Kanchenjunga Fight Night.
