GEYZING,: Senior Limboo poet Yehang Laoti from
Kathmandu, Nepal will be conferred with the annual Iman Singh Chemjong Literary
Award, announced Yakthung Sapsok Saplon Chumbho Sukhim today.
The award will be presented during the
121st birth anniversary celebration of Iman Singh Chemjong on January 1, 2025
in Geyzing.
YSSCS said Yehang Laoti has made immense
contributions to the promotion and development of Limboo literature. A key
figure in the Limboo literary sphere for decades, Laoti also played an active
role for development of Limboo text book while working with Education
department of Sikkim.
In addition, the Iman Singh Chemjong
Special Award (posthumous) will be conferred upon late Pahalman Limboo, a
former parliamentarian and the founder of Sukhim Yakthung Sapsok Songjumbho, a
prominent Limboo literary association. Pahalman Limboo was instrumental in
securing CBSE affiliation for the Limboo language in Sikkim.
YSSCS president Raju Limboo informed
that the awards will be presented during the 121st birth anniversary
celebration of Limboo scholar Iman Singh Chemjong. YSSCS organizes the event
annually to honour and cherish Chemjong's invaluable contributions to Limboo
literature and culture.
