GANGTOK, (IPR): Congratulating the Gangtok District Administration and Sun Pharma & Group Co., on their unique first of its kind motivational programme called "Sun Talks", Raju Basnet, minister for Education, Law and Sports & Youth Affairs departments, thanked them for organising such a beneficial programme for the youth aligning with the State government’s initiative of ‘One Family, One Entrepreneur,’ an excellent support for those aiming for self-employment, under the leadership of the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay .
Raju Basnet was addressing the students invited for the inagural session of "Sun Talks" as the chief guest at Chintan Bhawan, this morning.
The minister spoke about the importance of believing in oneself and the three mantras of success; possessing a dream, having a positive and open mindset, and determination to succeed. He encouraged students to aim for self-employment and providing jobs for others.
The chief guest also determined that the State government is doing everything to support young educationalists by providing scholarships and opportunities to deserving candidates.
"Sun Talks" is a series of motivational talks to inspire Sikkimese youth, which is a collaborative effort of Gangtok District Administration initiated under the leadership of Tushar Nikhare, District Magistrate Gangtok District, with Sun Pharma & Group Co., as a part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to mark 50 Years of Statehood Celebration of Sikkim on May 16, 2025.
The event was graced by Tshering T Bhutia, minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation and Commerce & Industries departments; GT Dhungel, minister of Health & Family Affairs department; Delay Namgyal Barfungpa, Area MLA Gangtok; Sonam Venchungpa, Area MLA Martam, Tenzing Lamtha, Area MLA Shyari, and Chandrashekhar Gowda, associate vice president, Sun Pharma & Group Co as the guests of honour. Also present were all the distinguished officers under Gangtok Administrative Centre, Heads of Departments (HoDs) of all the units of Sun Pharma & Group Co., faculty members and students of educational institutions.
The highlights of the event were inspirational and motivational talk by Tenzing Loden Lepcha, Senior Superintendent of Police and Chandrashekhar Gowda, associate vice president, Sun Pharma & Group Co.
Lepcha’s talks centered around navigating life’s challenges and envisioning transformation. Drawing examples from his own life trajectory, he urged students to visualise, strategise, set realistic mile stones and execute them accordingly.
Gowda spoke about the importance of having a dream and not letting negativity get in the way of said goals and targets.
G L Meena, SDM Gangtok also led the launch of an online portal related to Citizen’s Charter, Online Marriage Platform and Token Management System in the presence of the esteemed guests.
Earlier, Tushar Nikhare, District Magistrate of Gangtok District opened the event with the welcome speech outlining the inception and objectives of the talk series "Sun Talks". The initiative aims to nurture bright young minds, empowering them to contribute positively to society while combating mental stress and substance abuse. This will be an ongoing program till the Statehood Celebration of Sikkim on May 16, 2025.
