GEYZING, : Chief Minister PS Golay on Wednesday maintained that opposition
parties and political faction from outside Sikkim were involved in the Samson
Tamang hate speech case.
Addressing
the 30thKhas Foundation Day here, the Chief Minister said the
opposition parties and those from outside the State financially helped Samson
to go into hiding for many days despite diligent efforts from Sikkim Police to
trace and apprehend him.
Samson
was finally traced and arrested from Bodhgaya last week by Sikkim Police. He is
accused of making offensive and hostile remarks against the Khas
(Chettri-Bahun) community.
The
Chief Minister maintained that the racist remarks of Samson against the Khas
community was a deliberate and politically motivated attempt to portray the community
in a bad light against other communities and a divisive conspiracy to disrupt
the communal harmony in Sikkim.
Golay
added that names of several persons involved in the Samson Tamang case have
emerged and many things were to get cleared in the case. He informed that the State
government would seek five more days of police remand against Samson Tamang to
ensure exposure of actual truth in the case.
“Many
names have come forward having their hands in Samson Tamang's case and several
aspects needed to be dug out. We will seek five more days of police custody of
Samson Tamang”, Golay said.
He
was speaking on the occasion of 30th Khas foundation day celebration organized
by Akhil Sikkim KhasChettriBahunKalyanSangh (ASKCBKS).
Without
naming any individual or political group, the Chief Minister said that as a
larger part of political conspiracy, Samson Tamang was pushed forward with
racial propaganda with a sole aim of creating communal disharmony and rift
against Khas community. He expressed that an ill-designed political conspiracy
was hatched by the individuals making their bases in places like Siliguri,
Darjeeling, Nepal and Assam.
“Conspiracy
was hatched at Siliguri, Darjeeling, Assam and Nepal with a political motive of
disrupting the communal harmony and toppling the SKM government”, Golay said.
Recording
his strong objection to the opposition for dragging his name in the Samson
Tamang issue, Golay said that it was illogical to blame him on the issue just
on the basis that he belonged from Tamang community. He challenged the
opposition to come forward with any evidence of favouring only Tamang community
while serving as the Chief Minister.
The
Chief Minister alleged that the very people having their involvement in Samson
Tamang hate speech case have been intensifying the issue with a vested
political agenda and expressed that the opposition sloganeering against the Police
department and the State government was just a vent of frustration on failure
of their desired political goal.
Warning
the opposition party, Golay said that if SKM resorted to 'murdabad' slogan
against the opposition as promoted by the opposition against SKM government
then the political scenario of Sikkim would be different and difficult. He suggested
the opposition not to underestimate SKM party.
The
Chief Minister added that instead of commending Sikkim Police for a swift
action against Samson Tamang, the opposition is questioning the State police’s
credibility by demanding a CBI probe on the case.
“Their
(opposition) demands of a CBI probe on Samson Tamang case defines a proverb 'Chorkokhuttakaatbhandakhuttataannu' and
reflects their disappointment and frustration”, he said.
The
Chief Minister warned the outside political forces not to interfere in the
matters pertaining to Sikkim. Such interference would not be tolerated when it
puts the dignity of Sikkim at stake, he said.
