Pre-monsoon preparedness meeting for Pakyong district

PAKYONG, (IPR): Pakyong District Collector Tashi Chophel convened a meeting focusing on pre-monsoon preparedness, at the conference hall of the Rurban Complex, Pakyong, today.

Also in attendance were Tenzing Loden Lepcha, Senior SP Pakyong; Rinzing Chophel Rai, ASP Pakyong; Amit Singh, Commandant SSB; General Manager (NHIDCL), SDMs; BDOs; and HODs from various line departments and representatives from NDRF, AAI, and BRO.

The objective of the gathering was to deliberate on strategies aimed at addressing potential challenges during the upcoming monsoon season and enhancing coordination between departments for a more secure and effective response.

The DC Pakyong, in his remarks, lauded the invaluable assistance provided by diverse departments during the flash flood crisis. Emphasising the meeting's purpose, he assessed the overall preparedness and impediments of the line departments, pinpointing areas necessitating improvement. He urged the line departments to collaborate and implement well-coordinated plans to ensure safety during times of calamity.

He advised the line departments to pinpoint high-risk areas to prevent damage caused by uprooted trees and fallen branches. Furthermore, he urged them to take measures to protect the livelihood of the populace by ensuring the proper clearing of clogged drains and preventing water-borne diseases through fogging and sanitisations to avert unforeseen eventualities.

The Senior SP Pakyong underscored the necessity of boosting emergency preparedness by enhancing ambulance availability and deploying machinery for restoration and rescue tasks during times of disaster.

Additionally, he proposed measures to mitigate potential risks while safeguarding the safety of the community and its infrastructure.

Similarly, Bibek Niroula, DPO Pakyong, highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in efficiently managing disasters. He stressed the importance of synchronised actions to address various challenges that may arise in such circumstances.
