Public hearing for Reshi-Rongli-Kupup road widening

PAKYONG, (IPR): A public hearing under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013 (RFCTLARR ACT, 2013), was convened by Rohan Agawane, DC Pakyong, at the conference hall of Rurban complex today.

The hearing was conducted to address concerns and inform on the rehabilitation and resettlement packages to the affected landowners and tenants by the acquisition of land for widening/improvement of the Reshi-Rongli-Kupup road by BRO in Phadamchen, Rongli subdivision under Pakyong district.

Addressing the gathering, the DC Pakyong emphasised the importance of the meeting and informed that the project is crucial for the road network in border areas.

Acknowledging the concerns regarding proper water drainage systems and water sources conversation in the area, he suggested that proper channels for the diversion of water and joining the culverts to the nearest jhoras or natural water flowing would avoid damages in the future.

In addition, he advised preserving the water sources while constructing the roads, as it caters to the needs of a large population in the region. He further urged the attendees to cooperate for the completion of the construction.

Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, ADC Pakyong, highlighted the compensation rates, acquisitions and road reserves to ensure transparency for the participants.

Likewise, Kushal Gurung, deputy director of the Land Revenue and Disaster Management department, provided an overview of the RFCTLARR Act while discussing the rehabilitation and resettlement packages offered to each participant based on the Act and survey report.

The participants engaged in conversation, expressing their grievances and concerns. The officials addressed these issues, leading to resolutions for a collaborative environment to move forward.

Also present were Major DS Kushwaha, OC 130 RCC, (GREF), NB Biswakarma, SDM Rongli along with panchayats and attendees.
