GANGTOK,: Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was on Wednesday felicitated
by his SDF party for being honoured with two prestigious awards in Nepal.
In October, the
former Chief Minister was honoured with ‘Padmashri Sadhana Samman' and ‘Viwsa
Shikar Sahitya Abhinandan’ by two reputed organisations at Kathmandu. The
latter award was presented from the hands of Nepalese Prime Minister KP Oli.
The SDF family
today congratulated and felicitated its party president Pawan Chamling for
receiving these two prestigious awards which have brought prestige to the
Sikkimese society, said the SDF in a press statement. The felicitation
programme was held at the SDF Bhawan here.
Addressing the
programme, Chamling spoke on the importance of literature and why it should be
written for the people. He also urged the youth of Sikkim to take up politics
fearlessly. He added that the SDF will work under the leadership of youth. I
will remain in active politics with the youth for Sikkim and its people, he
said.
The SDF
president maintained that the political, financial, social and other sectors of
Sikkim are in shambles. The SDF is committed to uplift Sikkim from such a
ruinous condition, he said.
