GANGTOK,: Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was on Wednesday felicitated by his SDF party for being honoured with two prestigious awards in Nepal.
In October, the former Chief Minister was honoured with ‘Padmashri Sadhana Samman' and ‘Viwsa Shikar Sahitya Abhinandan’ by two reputed organisations at Kathmandu. The latter award was presented from the hands of Nepalese Prime Minister KP Oli.
The SDF family today congratulated and felicitated its party president Pawan Chamling for receiving these two prestigious awards which have brought prestige to the Sikkimese society, said the SDF in a press statement. The felicitation programme was held at the SDF Bhawan here.
Addressing the programme, Chamling spoke on the importance of literature and why it should be written for the people. He also urged the youth of Sikkim to take up politics fearlessly. He added that the SDF will work under the leadership of youth. I will remain in active politics with the youth for Sikkim and its people, he said.
The SDF president maintained that the political, financial, social and other sectors of Sikkim are in shambles. The SDF is committed to uplift Sikkim from such a ruinous condition, he said.
