Chief
Information Commissioner of India arrives in Gangtok
GANGTOK, (IPR): Heeralal Samariya, the Chief Information Commissioner of India arrived here in Gangtok today.
Upon his
arrival, Samariya was accorded a warm welcome by KD Rechung, secretary Protocol
Home department, Tshering Choden Bhutia, Law Officer, Sikkim State Information
Commission and Pramila Rai, office superintendent, Sikkim State Information
Commission.
The National
Federation of Information Commissions in India (NFICI) was specially formed as
a registered body in 2009 to facilitate co-ordination and mutual consultation
among the Central Information Commission and the State Information Commissions
constituted under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
The federation
is managed by a Board of Governors which is chaired by the Chief Information
Commissioner, Central Information Commission and Chief Information
Commissioners of State Commissions elected to represent the various zones in
the board.
NFICI under the
aegis of Sikkim Information Commission shall be holding the 31st Board of
Governors’ Meeting with members comprising of seven State Chief Information
Commissioners from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Manipur,Odisha, Sikkim
and Uttarkhand. The State Chief Information Commissioners attending the Board
of Governors meeting are Tripurari Sharan CIC Bihar, Mahaboob Basha CIC Andhra
Pradesh, Koijan Radhashyam Singh CIC Manipur, Susanta Kumar Mohanty CIC Odisha,
Pradeep Vyas CIC Maharashtra, and Vivek Sharma CIC Uttarkhand.
This year it is
Sikkim's turn to host the Board of Governor's Meeting of NFICI, which will be
chaired by Heeralal Samriya, Chief Information Commissioner, Central
Information Commission of India on December 4- 5 here at Gangtok.
The Board of
Governors shall also call on the Governor of Sikkim during their visit.
