GEYZING,: Sanchaman Limboo Government Degree College (SMLGDC), Gyalshing has been
awarded ‘B’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
This marks an improvement from the previous ‘C’ grade
received in the first cycle in 2018. The accreditation, awarded after a recent
NAAC visit, reflects the college’s dedication to enhancing the quality of
education and its commitment to reaching out to the deprived sections of
society.
In the past five years, the college has seen considerable
growth, introducing postgraduate programme in Political Science, a BCom
programme and the establishment of Sikkim's only 5G lab. Additionally, the
college has launched an Entrepreneur Development Centre, a waste paper
recycling plant and an online radio station.
The NAAC peer team, led by Dr. Gopal Reddy, Pro-Vice
Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar, along with Dr. Rajiv
Dube, Professor at APS University, Madhya Pradesh, and Dr. Nandkumar Sawant,

verification of the college. They reviewed the infrastructure, including
ICT-enabled classrooms, and facilities for alternative energy, rainwater harvesting,
and health and fitness. A feedback session with faculty, students, alumni and
parents followed by a cultural program was also held during the visit.
The college has expressed its gratitude to the State government
for its continued support in providing modern infrastructure and resources that
have enhanced learning opportunities for students. With the addition of
ICT-enabled classrooms, the college has embraced technology-driven education,
offering a more interactive and comprehensive learning experience. The college
also acknowledged the role of the directorate of higher education, all
stakeholders and the alumni association in achieving this milestone.
