GEYZING,: A DIG-level coordination meeting
between Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal was held
on Wednesday to enhance counterpart coordination and strengthen security
measures along the Indo-Nepal border.
The meeting held at the headquarter of 36 BN SSB at
Yangtey, Geyzing in West Sikkim was attended by Shambu Subedi, DIG, APF, Nepal;
Rajesh Tikku, DIG, SSB; Manish Kumar, DIG, SSB, along with senior officers,
including SPs of APF and commandants of SSB.
During the discussions, both sides deliberated on the
current security scenario along the open and unfenced Indo-Nepal border.
Discussions during the meeting focused on the security scenario along the
India-Nepal border.
Key areas of deliberation included improving intelligence
sharing, enhancing operational coordination and strengthening joint efforts to
address security challenges in the region.
Emphasis was placed on strengthening inter-agency
collaboration to ensure effective law enforcement and border management.
Curbing trans-border crimes, implementing stricter measures against smuggling
of arms, ammunition, and contraband, as well as combating human trafficking.
Both forces unanimously resolved to implement additional
measures for effective coordination, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring
public safety and border security.
The meeting concluded with a strong pledge for greater
synergy between SSB and APF, reinforcing bilateral security cooperation and
mutual trust between India and Nepal.
