maintenance to NHIDCL marks a “transformative moment” for Sikkim. He also
extended his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road
Transport & Highways minister Nitin Gadkari for their visionary decision.
This marks a
transformative moment for our region, promising profound and lasting impacts on
our people, economy, and daily lives, stated the Chief Minister via social
media on Tuesday evening.
Golay mentioned
that in recent times, the Sikkim government has repeatedly conveyed the
critical importance of NH-10 connectivity to the Central government,
highlighting its indispensable role in the lives of the people of Sikkim.
“With NHIDCL
now assuming responsibility, I am confident that we will witness not only
essential repairs and maintenance but also timely expansion and enhancements
that are urgently needed. This progress will directly benefit our people,
ensuring safer daily commutes and more efficient movement of goods and
services. It is a particular boon to our drivers’ community including taxi
drivers, bus operators, and truckers, who rely on this road and serve as the
backbone of our regional transport network,” said the Chief Minister.
“This decision
opens a new chapter for our region, ensuring that NH-10 is managed as the vital
lifeline it truly is. The people of Sikkim are profoundly grateful for this
decisive step toward progress, and I look forward to witnessing NH-10 flourish
under NHIDCL’s stewardship,” said Golay.
