SORENG, (IPR): On his maiden official visit
to Soreng, Durga Das Uikey, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, visited
Ashram Model Residential School (AMRS) at Jhusingthang on Wednesday.
Accompanying him were Sikkim Lok Sabha MPIndra Hang Subba, Soreng DC Dhiraj Subedi,
SP Nahkul Pradhan, ADC-I D.R.Bista, Social Welfare joint secretary Prem Kamal
Rai, Mangalbaria SDM and other officials.
Addressing the gathering, Uikey
extended his heartfelt wishes to the students, urging them to aspire for
excellence by aiming for prestigious careers in services such as the IAS, IPS,
and IFS. He underscored the significance of dedication, discipline, and focus
in achieving their goals and building a successful future.
The principal of AMRS presented
a comprehensive report on the school’s progress, highlighting advancements in
academics, extracurricular participation, and overall discipline. Expressing
gratitude to the teaching staff, students, and administration, the principal
acknowledged their unwavering support in fostering a positive learning
environment.
Additionally, the principal outlined
key infrastructural demands to further enhance the school’s facilities. These
included the establishment of a reliable water supply, construction of an
indoor stadium, teachers’ quarters, a welcoming school gate, and the
development of the playground. He emphasized the urgency of addressing these
needs to create a more conducive environment for learning.
During his visit, Uikey
inspected various facilities within the school premises, including the girls’
and boys’ hostels, dining room, and classrooms. He engaged with students and
faculty members, commending their dedication and commitment to delivering
quality education.
Later, the MoS held a meeting
with the tribal representatives. He also assured that the issues placed to him
during the meeting would be diligently addressed to promote the upliftment of tribal
communities.
