GANGTOK,: Former SDF minister Tshering Wangdi Lepcha is likely to join the ruling SKM soon following his meeting with Chief Minister PS Golay on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister had on Wednesday met and interacted with the former MPs and former legislators at Gangtok in a programme organised by the Former Legislators Federation of Sikkim. Those meeting the Chief Minister also included former elected representatives from the SDF.
What set the political buzz were the social media reports indicating that Tshering Wangdi would be leaving the SDF and joining the SKM. It got a further push when the former SDF minister posted a photo of him with the Chief Minister on social media.
“An honour and privilege to meet HCM Golay Sir! Positive, promising and Effective one!,” posted Tshering Wangdi on his social media account along with a photo of him meeting the Chief Minister.
Speaking briefly with SIKKIM EXPRESS, Tshering Wangdi confirmed that he would be joining the SKM soon. “I met the Chief Minister today and shortly I will be joining the SKM,” he said.
Tshering Wangdi was the SDF candidate from Gnathang-Machong in the 2024 Assembly election where he lost to the SKM candidate. He was a SDF MLA from Lachen-Mangan constituency for two terms during which he also served as the Forest minister.
