GANGTOK,: The Tsomgo Ultra 4.0 is all set
to be held on March 9, announced the organizer here on Friday. The mascot for
this year's Tsomgo Ultra 4.0 run is Snow Lion.
The
run will be held in four categories, i.e., 10K, 21K, 42K, and 75K, and two
entry categories, i.e., open and 45+.
Addressing
media conference here today the Tsomgo Ultra 4.0 director Amor Boris Lepcha
said the ultra-run is being organised with an aim to generate awareness on
various health and social evils like HIV/AIDS, drugs, mental health and others.
The
75K Ultra Marathon is being held only in the State along with the 42K full
marathon, he added.
The
participants taking part in the 42K and 75K runs must have taken part in the
21K or full marathon in the past 18 months, as it is a high-altitude run; the
criteria set is a must, it was informed.
Similarly,
a timing chip is being used for the run so that the runner's timing can be
achieved along with the winner’s adjustment.
Likewise,
with the timing chip in place, the runners of the ultra-run can further utilize
the certificate issued for taking part in the future run they plan to
participate in.
Further,
following high demand and request from the participants, the orgnisers have
decided to extend the entry date for the run from February 22 to 28.
But
there is a condition, as we have set a number of taking in of the runners to
the tune of 350 only, so whichever is earlier, we will close the entry, Lepcha
informed.
The
winners of the run will be awarded with a medal, cash prize, and certificates.
The title pool of cash award tunes to Rs. 8 lakhs.
The
organizers during the conference also released the medals and the t-shirt of
the Tsomgo Ultra 4.0.
The
conference was also attended by technical head of the Tsomgo Ultra 4.0 Bashant
Pradhan, Serenity Home Founder Udai Chandra Rai, IT Head Nipendra Subba and
creative head Bharati Gurung.
