CM attends 18th Raising Day of 2nd IRBn

SORENG, (IPR): The 18th Raising Day of the 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn)was celebrated with grandeur and enthusiasm at the baatalion hedquarter at Pipalay, near Jorethang. The event was attended by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang as the chief guest.

In his address, the Chief Minister congratulated the 2nd IRBn Pipalay for their unwavering dedication and commendable service in maintaining law and order in the State. He praised their tireless commitment to public safety and recognized their vital contributions to the State’s progress. Furthermore, he urged the Sikkim Police to organize a grand event to mark Sikkim’s 50th year of statehood.

The Chief Minister also highlighted government initiatives aimed at uplifting the police force such as education allowance for children to ensure quality education for their families. 

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced several upcoming developmental projects set to enhance infrastructure and boost tourism in the region.

The Chief Minister concluded his address by reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to development, education and community welfare, urging collective efforts to achieve these goals.

Director General of Police (DGP) Akshay Sachdeva, in his address, commended the battalion’s dedication to duty, discipline and service. He highlighted their significant contributions in maintaining law and order, disaster response and counter-insurgency operations. Reaffirming Sikkim Police's focus on modernization and welfare, the DGP shared the Vision 2025 initiative, emphasizing holistic physical fitness for the force. He congratulated the battalion for completing 18 years of exemplary service and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity while adapting to evolving challenges.

The 18th Raising Day celebrations featured a variety of events including open football tournament, silent drill by IRBn jawans, anti-terror operation drill, band display by Sikkim Police band and Khukuri dance by IRBn jawans

The event was attended by MLAs, chairpersons, advisors, Sorengupadakshya, NJNP councillors, zillapanchayats, panchayat members and senior police officials.
