Sikkim State Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament concludes successfully

GANGTOK,  (PIB): The Sikkim State Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament was held Sunday at the banquet hall of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly in Gangtok. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Raj Kumari Thapa, who served as both the chief guest and chief jury member.

Sonam Tshering Venchungpa, MLA and Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, and Pamin Lepcha, MLA and Advisor to the Social Welfare department, were present as distinguished guests and jury members.

Thirty-nine participants took part in this State Level Youth Parliament, delivering three-minute speeches on two topics: "75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress" and "11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Diwas: A Pledge to Strengthen India's Constitutional Values."

Stuti Pradhan from Pakyong district secured the top spot, followed by Kezia Chettri from Gangtok district in second place, and Smyrna Lepcha from Namchi district in third place. The winners will travel to New Delhi tomorrow to represent Sikkim in the Central Hall of the Indian Parliament on April 1-3, 2025.

In his address, Sonam Tshering Venchungpa applauded the participants for their well-versed speeches and wished them luck for their future endeavors.

Pamin Lepcha appreciated the participants as well as the organizers for the successful conduct of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament.

The Deputy Speaker emphasized the importance of communal harmony, mental health, entrepreneurship, and participation in social work through the NYKS and NSS platforms. She encouraged the participants to participate with greater enthusiasm in future youth parliaments.

The chief guest and other guests distributed certificates and mementos to the participants and winners. The program concluded with the national anthem and a group photo session.
