GANGTOK,: Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim’s Chief Ministerial candidate
Ganesh Rai is maintaining a pressing election campaign in his two contesting
constituencies of Melli and Chujachen, besides campaigning for party candidates
in other constituencies.
Speaking
with SIKKIM EXPRESS on Saturday, the CAP leader mentioned that he is trying his
best to reach out to every voter in Melli and Chujachen but facing challenges
given the short campaigning period where door-to-door campaigning is also
restricted to day hours only. Party functionaries of the respective
constituencies are reaching out to the voters on my behalf and sharing the
party’s message, he said. He added that as the party’s Chief Ministerial
candidate, he is also covering other constituencies to address the masses about
the party’s vision and programmes.
Our main
election agenda is bringing reforms in politics, economy and administration for
building a new Sikkim, said the CAP Sikkim’s Chief Ministerial candidate.
CAP Sikkim
has fielded candidates in 30 Assembly constituencies and veteran politician
Bharat Basnet as its Lok Sabha candidate.
Rai said
the CAP Sikkim is committed for total protection of Article 371F and accused
the SKM government of violating the special Constitutional provisions for
Sikkim. The major violation took place with the expansion of Sikkimese
definition in the Finance Act 2023 and it is unfortunate that both our MPs in
the Parliament did not raise this issue when the bill was placed, he said.
CAP Sikkim
assures the people of Sikkim that after forming the government, we will review
the Finance Act 2023 and all those Central Acts that violate Article 371F and
have such laws amended in consultation with the Central government, said Rai.
Rai urged
the people of Sikkim to deeply contemplate before casting their votes on April
19 as the 2024 election is very crucial for the State. “Sikkim is soon
celebrating its golden jubilee of democracy but does true democracy exist in
Sikkim? We need to bring reforms and establish true democracy and build a
better future and this is the right time to vote for a CAP Sikkim government,”
he said.
