SFA holds meeting with clubs for upcoming Sikkim Premier League

GANGTOK,: The Sikkim Football Association (SFA) today held a meeting at Football House here with the eight Sikkim Premier League clubs to discuss the upcoming season.

Representatives from Aakraman FC, Sikkim Police, Gangtok Himalayan SC, Kumar SC, United Sikkim FC, Sang Mustang FC, Brotherhood FC and Singtam Howlers FC attended the meeting chaired by SFA general secretary Phurba Sherpa.

A press release informs that the Sikkim Premier League 2024-25 would be held according to the AIFF regulations. The clubs were informed that the league shall be held on a double leg basis as the criteria for promotion to I-League 3 has entailed that it is mandatory for each team to have played every other team twice.

All teams are to mandatorily have AIFF C-License coaches while the club physiotherapists are to have valid practicing credentials.

In order to promote local talent, only six outstation players will be allowed to be registered in the squad but only three players to be allowed at any given point of time to be in the playing 11.

The league’s official ball is Nivia Dominator 3.0, said the SFA.

Aggression towards match officials shall not be tolerated, and the SFA shall take stringent actions if any instance arises, said the SFA at the meeting.

Sherpa highlighted the need to follow the rules and regulations. As the competition aspect is going to be completely digital and via AIFF Portal, no modifications thereof would be allowed, he said.

Clubs also placed their concerns before the SFA for consideration at the meeting, the SFA release informs.
