GANGTOK, : The 2nd edition of NECDC Senior Women’s Inter-State Tournament, set to
kick off on Monday, will see North East’s top women cricketers in action at the
Sikkim Cricket Ground in Mining near Rangpo.
Organized
under the aegis of North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC), the
tournament features Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland
and Sikkim, the six States that are part of the NECDC, a press release informs.
The
teams have been divided into two groups. Group A will have Nagaland, Mizoram
and Meghalaya, while Group B comprises Sikkim, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Each
team will play two matches in the group stage. The top two teams from each
group will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for April 10. The final will be
held on April 12.
This
is for the first time Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) is hosting the
tournament. The inaugural edition was held in Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, where Sikkim
and Nagaland emerged joint winners, the release mentions.
The
opening match on April 7 sees Nagaland taking on Mizoram in the morning hours
followed by the match between host Sikkim and Manipur.

president Tika Subba stated: “We are proud to host the 2nd edition of NECDC
Senior Women’s Inter-State Tournament. This tournament not only strengthens the
spirit of regional camaraderie but also furthers our collective vision of
developing women’s cricket in the North East.”
