GANGTOK,: The grand finale of Sikkim's Top
Model Season 5 and Mini Model Season 4 was held at the auditorium of the
College of Agriculture and Engineering, Ranipool, here on January 5.
The
‘Living Life to the Fullest’ themed beauty pageants had 67 contestants across
four categories: Mini, Teen, Miss, and Mrs., representing diverse regions across
Sikkim. The participants underwent a week-long grooming session at the Sundar
Resort in Majhitar.
Sikkim
Tannery owner and former Rangpo Nagar Panchayat president Maya Cintury graced
the finale as the chief guest.
Gangtok
Casino Mayfair vice president Binita Shanker and Sikkim Manipal Institute of
Medical Sciences Department of Microbiology professor Dr. Jyotsna Kapil were
the guests of honour.
Sujana
Chettri from Jorethang was crowned as Miss Teen Sikkim Top Model, with
Prasansha Darnal from Bardang and Joyce Subba from Gangtok as the first and
second runners-up.
Christina
Rai from Saramsha took the crown of Miss Sikkim top model with Phur Lamu Tamang
from Pakyong and Kinara Chettri from Gangtok as first and second runners-up,
respectively.
Nisha
Subba from Bordang won the title of Mrs. Sikkim Top Model; Divya Khati and Juna
Limbu from Jorethang were adjudged as the first and second runners-up.
In
the Mini Model Sikkim competition, the talents of young participants were
showcased across various age categories.
In
the 4-6 years category, Sabya Bhujel from Sombaria emerged as the winner,
followed by Aderina Shanker from NamcheyBong as the first runner-up and Rigden
Tamang from Gangtok as the second runner-up.
Similarly,
in the 7-9 years category, Kalzang Lama Tamang from Gangtok secured the top
spot, with Eshain Chopel Bhutia from Gangtok and Ashimit Rasaily from Tadong
6th Mile taking the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.
Likewise,
in the 10-12 years category, Kripa Manger from Bojoghari claimed the winner's
title, while Akshana Tamang from Ranipool and Eulogia Bhutia from Saramsha were
named the first and second runners-up.
The
jury panel included first Miss Sikkim 2014 Anu Pradhan, SIKKIM EXPRESS staff
reporter Isabella Gurung, Miss Sikkim Top Model Season 3 Arati Thami, Miss
Sikkim Top Model Season 4 Pretika Chettri, and Miss Teen Sikkim Top Model
Season 4 Suvarna Subba.
The
event featured multiple rounds, including traditional, western, and gown
segments, which led to the selection of the top 11 contestants for the final
question and answer round.
Participants
were also awarded various subtitles, such as Best Ramp Walk, Beauty with Brain,
Beauty Purpose, Miss Mercantile, Shining Star, Best Smile, Miss Photogenic, and
many more.
The
winners received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, and the Sikkim’s Top Model team
also announced that all the finalists were eligible to participate in the
Northeast level for the runway model contest that will be taking place from
January 29 to February 1 in Guwahati, Assam.
The
event was further enlivened by remarkable performances from previous year
winners, with the highlight being a mesmerizing act by renowned Limboo rapper,
Eksha Hang Subba, popularly known as ‘Boss’.
