GANGTOK,: SRM University Sikkim hosted a one-day Mobile Legends gaming competition on Wednesday. The event drew participation of 38 teams, each comprising five members, from within the university.
Organised in collaboration with ESOS, the event highlights SRM University's commitment to fostering the gaming abilities of its students, going beyond traditional methods of teaching, informs a press release.
The formal inauguration began with a welcome speech by SRM University sports coordinator Dr. Bikash Thakuri.
ESOS president James Moktan addressed the gathering during the inaugural session, emphasizing the significance and future of gaming in Sikkim. He also stressed the importance of using mobile phones responsibly, advising the audience not to let mobile phones control them.
SRM University vice chancellor Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar shared his insights on the pros and cons of mobile gaming. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Aditya Pradhan, sports coordinator at SRM University Sikkim.
Following the inauguration, matches commenced with 190 participants. The team “Hum Kisi Se Kaam Nahi”, comprising Aunkush Barua from the School of IT, Takhe Penji from the School of Basic Sciences, and Dodum Taku, Gungli Gamnya and Joshua Tajo from the School of Social Sciences, emerged victorious. They received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 along with gift hampers.
The event concluded with distribution of merchandise to all participants, sponsored by ESOS.
