GANGTOK, : The International Youth Conclave for Tourism Development at Yangang
concluded on Monday with meaningful deliberations and cultural exchanges.
Education
minister Raju Basnet was the chief guest for the concluding day’s second
session. Delegates from 17 States, four Union Territories, and three countries,
as well as students, SHGs, NGOs and other stakeholders were also present.
At
the outset, Bikash Basnet, chief coordinator of the conclave and political secretary
to the CM, expressed that the event has been a resounding success and will have
a lasting impact on promoting tourism in Yangang. He emphasized the
significance of knowledge exchange, cultural integration, and the collective
efforts of all stakeholders that made this initiative impactful, a press

Participants
from various States and countries shared their reflections, expressing deep
appreciation for the warm hospitality of the Sikkimese people, and commending
the government’s commitment under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh
Tamang (Golay) to youth empowerment and sustainable tourism.
The
Deputy Speaker &chief patron of Yangang Tourism Development Committee, Raj
Kumari Thapa extended heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for his
guidance and vision in aligning the event with the 50th year of Sikkim’s
Statehood. She highlighted the various sessions held, including mental health
awareness programmes, education sessions by Sikkim University and “Sikkim
Inspires”, panel discussions and the active participation of the local
entrepreneur community. She also acknowledged the role of stall owners,
artisans and youth who contributed immensely to the event, the release

In
his address, minister Raju Basnet spoke on the visible transformation of
Yangang under the present leadership. He noted that long-pending demands such
as the operationalization of Sikkim University campus and the construction of
the Skywalk at Bhaleydhunga are now becoming realities. He encouraged the youth
to pursue tourism entrepreneurship as a sustainable livelihood that benefits
generations, especially in a region blessed with natural beauty and cultural
richness, the release mentions.
The
three-day event concluded with a grand cultural exchange program, featuring
diverse State delegations, local cultural performances, traditional cuisines,
handicrafts and handloom stalls, educational outreach by Sikkim University and
Sikkim Inspires, as well as awareness sessions on mental health by the
Education Department. Multiple panel discussions, talk shows, and B2B meetings
added to the knowledge-sharing platform.
The
conclave was inaugurated on April 12 by the Chief Minister.
